It goes without saying that the property market in the UK is incredibly competitive. There are pros and cons to all cities when it comes to living in them. Let’s take a look at a few places around the UK and breakdown all the great advantages to living there.

Edinburgh – Scotland

If you’re main concern about an area is crime rate, Edinburgh is a strong option for you. It has one of the lowest crime rates and also boasts low petrol and energy bills! Many residents here boast about the fresh, beautiful nature of Edinburgh, particularly the amount of wide open spaces full of greenery. It is well known that there are numerous stunning secret gardens dotted around this city, why not move over and take a peek?

Skipton – Yorkshire

Skipton has previously been voted the best place to live in Yorkshire. This small town has everything that a market town should have. There are wonderful cobbled streets to walk down, interesting ruins to look at and gorgeous scenery through Skipton woods.  This town is perfect for anyone that likes to avoid the high street and prefers a stroll around some independent boutique shops.

Fact: Skipton Castle acts as the main centrepiece of Skipton, which is now 900 years old!

Waverly – Surrey

Waverly is voted the best rural location in Great Britain. Residents here are known to generally live very happy lives, especially considering the average weekly wage of these residents is quite high. The environment here is clear and the air is fresh as can be. Any country lover can enjoy the fantastic quality of life that Waverly has to offer.

Fact: Waverly Abbey has been used as a location for shooting several well-known movies.

Whitby – North Yorkshire

Another wonderful Yorkshire town – Whitby makes a lovely seaside day-trip but a perfect place to live as well. This coastal location has many historic buildings and sandy beaches. It is said to be one of the most romantic places to live in the UK. Schools in Whitby have great reputations, making this a wonderful town for a family to live in.

Fact: Bram Stoker’s famous book Dracula was inspired by Whitby and the town is full of Dracula references!

Salford Quays – Manchester

Salford Quays is home to an awful lot of Manchester’s culture. It is home to Media City and the Lowry Theatre. If you are someone with the intention to work in Media, there is probably no better place in Manchester to live. This location is definitely one of the prettiest in Manchester’s city centre as it overlooks the lovely canal. If you’re a fan of scenery, Salford Quays looks incredible during the night, as the lights of the buildings reflect off the water.

Fact: As part of Media City, you can pay to go on a tour of the Coronation Street set!
